Abundance with Meaning: Nurturing our Body and our Soul

                                                   by Bia Limoli

We often hear that “things won’t make you happy” or that “being surrounded by people doesn’t guarantee fulfillment.” And while that is true, it’s also important to recognize that both people and possessions have their place in our lives.

Comfort and Joy Matter Too

We are made of both matter and soul. That means we need nourishment for both. A comfortable home, objects that bring beauty, and joyful gatherings with friends can add colour, ease, and fun to our days. They make life lighter, more practical, and more enjoyable. Denying their importance would be ignoring a part of what makes us human.

When the Soul Feels Empty

But the other truth is that no amount of people or possessions can replace the deeper needs of the heart. Connection, authenticity, presence, and love are the nutrients of the soul. Without them, even the most comfortable life may still feel incomplete. Crowded rooms can feel lonely, and overflowing closets can’t cover inner emptiness.

A Life in Balance

The key is balance. To honour both sides of our nature:

  • Matter (body): surround yourself with what brings comfort, functionality, and joy. Allow yourself beauty, softness, and pleasure in the physical world.
  • Soul: cultivate meaningful relationships, moments of presence, and practices that align with your truth.

Fulfillment Comes from Integration

Happiness is not about choosing between people, possessions, or feelings. It’s about integration — recognizing that while things and people can enrich our journey, it is our feelings that make it meaningful.

And the most important truth of all: only we can create that balance for ourselves. No one else can decide what matters most to us or fill the spaces that only we know exist inside. Balance is a deeply personal journey, and it begins not with trying to understand others, but with understanding ourselves. When we connect with our own truth and choose to nurture both body and soul, life naturally becomes abundant — and everything else starts to fall into place.
